Let’s do lunch!

Before we start, let’s provide a shout-out for our illustrious webmaster, Banai Feldstein! I suggested a while back that a countdown timer would be a wonderful addition to our conference webpage. Check it out! I really like it. And (I don’t want to get you nervous, or anything, but): there are only 59 days, 21 hours, 20 minutes and 11 seconds until the conference convenes at 9:00 A.M., Pacific Daylight Time on Sunday, August 7th, 2016 in Seattle! (Chances are, it’s now later than you think.)

Screen Shot 2016-06-09 at 10.39.41 AMI have to admit that when completely absorbed in my genealogy research I tend to omit meals. But, science has shown [you’ll have to take my word on this], that feeding our bodies is good for our minds – and our learning. And, besides, what better way to network with fellow genealogists than to break bread!

Now is the time to plan for sustenance during the IAJGS 2016 Conference in Seattle. Reservations for these meals must be made no later than July 10,  2016, Pacific Daylight Time.

Aside from the SIG and JewishGen-sponsored luncheons, conference organizers have also arranged for options for several other meals.

During the conference, you may wish to take your chances at  restaurants in or close to the hotel. But the conference also provides an opportunity to reserve box lunches in the hotel.

If you are observant and will arrive for the conference before the start of Shabbat on Friday, August 5th, or stay for Shabbat on Friday, August 12th, you may reserve Kosher Shabbat dinners.

You may reserve your meals by going to the Attendee Service Center, signing in, and, then, navigating to the page that includes meal reservations. When you click on a meal selection, the menu options for that meal will be displayed on the page. Then make your menu selections.

For your convenience, however, here are the menus.

I think I will sign up for box lunches on those days (when I am not already in a SIG luncheon) when I will not want to miss a presentation right after lunch. That way I won’t have to worry about returning from lunch on time. Think I will check the conference schedule right now and make my lunch plans. After all, the countdown timer is showing that time is of essence!
