IAJGS 2016 Orientation – for me?

There are several listings on the conference schedule that may require a bit of elucidation. In this post I’ll cover Orientation.

Labyrinth(Pixabay)The conference orientation session is scheduled at 8:00 A.M. Sunday morning, before other sessions begin at 9:00 A.M. It is a good session to plan to attend whether you are a beginner at genealogy, a genealogist who has not before attended an IAJGS conference, or a someone who has not attended in several years. It may even be helpful to attend if this will be your first time using the conference app.

The presentation is focused on how to get the most out of the IAJGS 2016 conference. It is is open to all conference attendees.

“New Attendee Welcome & Orientation” (Sun-152), 8:00-9:00 A.M.

Marlis Humphrey, President of the International Association of Genealogical Societies, will lead a general orientation to the conference. The goal isĀ  to give you suggestions to ensure you get the most out of the conference.

Marlis will cover:

  • scheduling your days,
  • using the conference app (a demonstration of accessing handouts, taking notes, rating sessions, etc.),
  • attending not-to-miss events and activities,
  • using Family Finder & badges for networking,
  • accessing sessions you missed after the conference.

Marlis will also provide miscellaneous tips on where to find a variety of information. There will be ample time for questions.
