About the Conference

When

The conference will run from  9 AM  Sunday, August 7, to noon Friday, August 12, 2016.

Where

At the Sheraton Seattle Downtown Hotel, 1400 Sixth Avenue, Seattle, Washington 98101.

Local Host

The local host is the Jewish Genealogical Society of Washington State.

Co-chairs

The conference leadership consists of Dr. Janette Silverman, Phyllis Grossman, and Chuck Weinstein.

Registration

Registration will begin on January 3, 2016.

Submitting a Paper

The call for papers will open on October 1, 2015.

Focus Areas

This year’s focus is The Wandering Jew.

Tracks will include:

  • The Sephardic Experience in the United States
  • European Migrations
  • South American, Australian and South African Branches
  • Westward Ho! Jews in the Western US
  • Coming Home to Israel

A special feature of this year’s conference will be sessions on Sunday morning, August 7, about teaching genealogy in formal and informal educational settings.
